When my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago her biggest fear was that of the unknown. A million questions flooded our minds and too few answers. We knew we needed to develop a plan quickly to get through this. As the answers from trusted professionals, friends, and cancer survivors came pouring in a plan began to take shape. Once armed with a plan Mom was a rock in spite of her devastating diagnosis. She knew what to expect. She could handle anything. She saw the light at the end of the tunnel and the steps to get there. It reminded me of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs from Psychology class. One step above our basic needs of food, water and shelter we need to feel safe and secure, stable, and free from fear. To feel free from fear we need to know what to expect.
Mom is 75, cancer free, and works tirelessly in her renowned gardens from sunrise to sunset. She is an inspiration and her experience is uppermost on my mind when I work with clients who are embarking on one of the most important financial decisions of their lives… buying a home. It is our duty and pleasure to provide our clients with a clear plan for the process, to alleviate stress, and be rewarded with a beautiful place to enjoy their lives.
